One of the things about my medical condition is that I don’t have to stress quite as much about college because next year I’m probably going to have to stay and finish treatment. You’d think that all the academic complications that have come out all of this would make the process more stressful and desperate, but it’s had the exact opposite effect. Anyway, here are the schools I’m looking at.

These are the regular four-year schools I’m looking at right now:

University of California: Berkeley
University of California: Santa Cruz
Seattle University

And these are the design schools I’m currently considering:

Full Sail: School of Film, Art, Design, Music & Media Production
School of Visual Arts
Ringling School of Art and Design
Art Institute of Vancouver
Art Institute of New York
Art Institute of California: San Francisco
Art Institute of California: San Diego

The search for colleges really has only just started for me. Because of how well I’ve been doing in CNMA (I’ve been ranked first in my class in all of my CNMA classes for a couple years now), if I do decide to go to a design school, then I’ll pretty much get to choose the fancy academy of my choice, which is certainly enticing especially since it’s looking pretty safe to say that I’ll have a career in graphic design or web development. If I decide to go with a regular four-year college, UC Berkeley is looking like the mostly likely, but Seattle University is a very, very strong contender, so we’re going to go up to Seattle to check it out. And if I decide to go to a design academy, then Full Sail and SVA are looking the best so far (I think I can get in, woo), but there’s a lot of design academies out there that I need to look at, like schools in the United Kingdom for example. (Going to a ridiculously fancy design school in Europe is all the more interesting as a possibility since I’ve got the grades, awards, and letters of recommendation to do it, hehe.)

So who knows? I sure don’t. And the beautiful part is that I’ve got extra time to make up my mind. Woo.
