The North
This is part of my travel with Robert.
We’re back from Canada. Montreal and Quebec were absolutely amazing. Robert is a very, very hardcore traveller, but that’s good because we hit pretty much every part of every city and got to see everything in between the destinations too since we walked so much (he’s a backpacker after all). Loved it. This trip has only intensified my love of Canada. If you’ve never been, fix that.
Anyway, Robert is putting together an account of our adventures in Vermont and Canada that I’ll post up here when he finishes. For now though, here are a few pictures from his fancy high-end camera, which have only been edited to make them smaller for the computer. Click to see larger version. (If anybody would like to see much, much higher resolution versions of these or other pictures, just poke me.)

Why I Want To Be A Graphic Artist
Man, this is why I want to be a graphic artist. I mean, I love what I do by myself enough that I’d still want to be a designer, but the fact that I’m going to work with people like this excitingly sweet. Suffice to say, art school in San Francisco or New York (still haven’t picked) is going to rock.
Anyway, this is by a guy named John Su and the work below is his “Art Meme” (for crying out loud, it’s just a meme, and it’s still that good). Check out the rest of his gallery too while you’re at it. So good. Rawr.

Talked to Daniel Robbins!
And yes, this is totally worth blogging about. For those of you who don’t know, Daniel Robbins is the founder of the Gentoo Linux (more info here), so he’s kind of a big deal. I had emailed him about Visual Flavor, and then a few days later, there we were, talking over Jabber. What a genuinely good guy (he asked about my health, and even recommend that I give grapefruit seed extract a shot).
Anyway, he thought that Visual Flavor sounded like an excellent idea. In fact, I guess he liked it enough that he offered to write about it on his blog whenever we’re ready to make our debut.
All I need to do now is crack some knuckles and catch up with Visual Flavor work. Heh heh.

How long has it been since you’ve heard this song?
Alright, here’s a song that’s been happily stuck in my head. “The Logical Song” by Supertramp. Eat it up. If you want to listen to it online without really downloading it*, then you can check it out here, and if you prefer a torrent, then here’s one for ya.
Aside from just being catchy in general, the lyrics are pretty interesting, too, both in terms of word play and intriguing meanings. Enjoy!
Supertramp – The Logical Song Lyrics
When I was young
It seemed that life was so wonderful
A miracle, oh it was beautiful, magical
And all the birds in the trees
Well they’d be singing so happily
Oh joyfully, oh playfully watching me
But then they sent me away
To teach me how to be sensible
Logical, oh responsible, practical
And they showed me a world
Where I could be so dependable
Oh clinical, oh intellectual, cynicalThere are times when all the world’s asleep
The questions run too deep
For such a simple man
Won’t you please, please tell me what we’ve learned
I know it sounds absurd
But please tell me who I amNow watch what you say
Or they’ll be calling you a radical
A liberal, oh fanatical, criminal
Oh won’t you sign up your name
We’d like to feel you’re
Acceptable, respectable, oh presentable, a vegetableAt night when all the world’s asleep
The questions run soo deep
For such a simple man
Won’t you please, please tell me what we’ve learned
I know it sounds absurd
But please tell me who I am, who I am, who I am, who I am*Actually, every time you get or view something on the internet, you download it and it’s stored temporarily. But shhh.

Steve Ballmer Music Video
Man, this is good stuff. I was posting on Bagelwood an idea for a spoof game pitting Microsoft against Apple against Linux in a sort of Mortal Kombat way, and of course, Steve Ballmer had to be in there going berserk somehow. This made me want to see the video of him going crazy during a speech again, so I went to Youtube. I came across this music video version which I hadn’t seen before, and man, it’s gold.
Gold, I tell you.
