The Spin-Kick Lives
I’m pretty sure that this is taekwondo by the look of the padding they’re wearing, but at any rate, I rarely see “tornado kicks” anymore. I have never used or actually seen anybody try to use one in ay of the karate competitions I’ve been to or even just in training sparring. We know how to do it, but it just feels risky, so it doesn’t happen. Perhaps it’s perfectly common in taekwondo (remember, I practice Goju-Ryu karate-do, not taekwondo), but at any rate, it’s nice to see this being used in a competitive setting. The spin-kick lives on!

Microwave Monday #1
I’m typically not into what people think of as “teenage humor.” Really. But who doesn’t like putting things in the microwave that you aren’t supposed to?
Alright, with this one, I’m worried that I’ll never find a better microwave video for future Microwave Mondays on GeekPerspective.com, but oh well! This is just too good to pass up. It’s short, but omg so sweet and delicious.

Robots vs. Ninjas
So I’ve found two very cool videos and wasn’t sure which one I’d post up. After pondering it for a while, I decided that this would be an excellent time to have a robot-ninja showdown. Since we all know that ninjas totally beat pirates already, it’s time for a new challenger. Let this be the first round. Which video is cooler?
The first video is of a robot that Carnegie Mellon University built. As you can see, it’s quite capable of having intelligent conversations, which is why they’ve named it Quasi the Intelligent Robot. It’s pretty amazing how able to capture emotions it is and how precisely they’re able to control him. I mean, watch this movie and tell me you don’t forget that he’s inanimate. And I just referred to it as a him. Ha. Man, I almost wish I was Quasi.
The next video is from the group EMC Monkeys (EMC stands for “Evolved Monkey Combat”), and they’re apparently ninjas for hire, heh. I just saw the new Jet Li movie, Fearless, and plus I’ve been doing martial arts since I was four myself (though not like this I admit), so this is pretty cool to me. And I think it’s pretty cool for anybody. At any rate, I may just have to figure out how to do this stuff when I get better and can physically exert myself and stuff again.
Leave commnents here, but yeah, I’m just going to let you guys vote here in the Bagelwood forums.
And also, prepare yourselves for the first Microwave Monday. ;)
